Daily Japan updates
Two engineering roles open Japan from abroad, but demand different kinds of seniority
Fresh robotics and mobile-development listings show that English-first access can coexist with demanding field, architecture, and product responsibilities.
Developments
Two newly dated engineering vacancies make Japan reachable from overseas without requiring Japanese, but neither is an easy-entry role. One asks engineers to integrate software with heavy machinery in the field; the other asks a senior mobile specialist to own architecture and delivery for a financial product.
1. DeepX opens a robotics role overseas, with real machinery and field work attached
DeepX’s Tokyo role accepts overseas applicants and advertises visa and relocation support. Its language gate is business English rather than Japanese, but the practical gate is substantial: modern C++ on Linux, integration across multiple runtime components, safety and error handling, and a willingness to test software on real machines at customer sites. ROS2 and robotics experience are preferred, yet the listing emphasizes broad production-engineering judgment over a narrowly defined robotics pedigree. (Read the DeepX listing)
2. Money Forward pairs Fukuoka relocation with senior ownership of an iOS product
Money Forward’s Fukuoka opening lists ¥8–11 million a year, accepts overseas applications, and says visa sponsorship and relocation assistance are available. Japanese is not required, while business English and senior-level iOS experience are. The responsibilities extend beyond feature coding to architecture, delivery, test automation, technical risk, mentoring, and collaboration across product, design, backend, and quality teams. What candidates should take away
English-first hiring can remove one major barrier, but it does not remove specialization. Applicants should test each listing against the work itself: field deployment and system integration at DeepX, or long-term product and architecture ownership at Money Forward. Both pages are mutable market signals, so current availability and every immigration, relocation, and compensation term should be confirmed directly before making plans.
