Two English-first roles open different paths into Japan’s infrastructure economy

Fresh robotics and reliability listings show that overseas access is widening, while the technical bar remains firmly mid-career.

Developments

Two listings dated October 29 point to a practical opening for international engineers: both welcome overseas applicants and remove Japanese as an entry requirement, but neither is designed for beginners. One centers on physical systems in logistics, while the other asks for ownership of the reliability layer behind financial software.

1. Telexistence is recruiting for the coordination layer above individual robots

Telexistence’s Tokyo role focuses on the fleet-management software that assigns work, coordinates multiple autonomous machines, manages traffic and recovers from failures. Candidates need at least three years of relevant experience plus strong C++, Linux and ROS or ROS2 skills. The listing accepts overseas applications, advertises visa support and asks for business English rather than Japanese. That makes the geographic gate unusually open, but the expected breadth—from navigation and hardware integration to production debugging—keeps the technical gate high. 2. Money Forward pairs overseas hiring with a clearly stated salary band

Money Forward’s product SRE position lists annual compensation of ¥7.9 million to ¥11 million and also welcomes overseas applicants with visa and relocation support. The work is broader than monitoring: the listing asks for project scoping, cross-team coordination, infrastructure modernization, cost control, delivery-pipeline security and automated provisioning. Japanese is not required, although applicants must demonstrate business-level English. For candidates comparing opportunities from abroad, the published range and explicit mobility support make the role easier to evaluate than listings that disclose only a title and technology stack. What candidates should take away

English-first hiring does not mean low-friction hiring. These roles reward engineers who can show ownership across systems, operations and stakeholders. Treat the listings as current market signals, then reconfirm availability, compensation, sponsorship and working arrangements directly with the employer before making a move.
